Form 69
(1969 - 1975)
David
Jenkins
5 years - 1st to 5th
After I left Wennington I went to boarding School in
York (Bootham) which was quite unlike Wennington! Thereafter did a
Library/English degree, worked for several councils and colleges (as a
librarian) around the country. The best of the lot was a stint in Ambleside -
leaving it nearly broke me 'eart it did - and spent quite some time working at
a dreadful college (which shall remain nameless!) in Cheshire.
Thinking that a change would do me good I jumped out of the frying pan into the fire by doing a PGCE at Keele but soon decided that kids in most secondary schools these days and I do not make a good combination! I'm therefore back in library work gently contented at the British Library ... and ending up back at Wetherby. I still see the 'old place' every day and was, at one time, half seriously thinking of getting one of the new conversion-apartments now being constructed.
Happily married to Pat for 12 years - just us; no kids!
Hope to see you at a reunion.
